Delta Launches Fast, Free Wi-Fi on International Flights
- Delta has started offering fast, free Wi-Fi, powered by T-Mobile, on select long-haul international flights, aiming to expand across its global fleet.
- The majority of Delta’s customers are expected to have access to this service by the end of 2024.
Delta has begun introducing fast, free Wi-Fi, powered by T-Mobile, on select long-haul international flights, marking a significant step toward providing reliable, streaming-quality internet across its global fleet. The airline aims to offer this service on most transatlantic flights by the end of summer.
Currently, free Wi-Fi is available on nearly 700 aircraft, covering over 90% of Delta’s domestic mainline fleet. By the end of the year, the majority of Delta’s customers will have access to this service.
“As we continue to roll out fast, free Wi-Fi and the in-flight experiences it powers, we’re able to serve customers traveling both domestically and internationally in new, in-the-moment ways,” says Ranjan Goswami, S.V.P. – Customer Experience Design. “The scale at which we’re bringing free Wi-Fi to customers is unmatched in the airline industry, and it’s a testament to the incredible efforts of Delta teams across the business that have expertly navigated an extremely complex rollout.”
What’s Next
Delta is introducing this service on Viasat-equipped widebody aircraft, focusing on specific routes to ensure consistent, high-quality service. This phased approach mirrors the domestic rollout strategy from 2022.
Initially, the international Wi-Fi portal will not require a SkyMiles login, but later this year, all Viasat-equipped aircraft will transition to the Delta Sync Wi-Fi experience, offering personalized features and exclusive onboard benefits for SkyMiles members.

Last month, fast, free Wi-Fi rolled out on most flights to/from France (CDG and NCE) out of/into all U.S. stations. Looking ahead, the airline anticipates the following timeline1:

Knowing what Wi-Fi service to expect on your next flight
During this transition period, some flights may experience gaps in Wi-Fi coverage until additional satellites are in place. Certain aircraft may offer a paid Intelsat Wi-Fi service until these upgrades are complete. To check if free Wi-Fi is available on your flight,
